The month of May was a busy one on the island, with the guided tours now in full flow, so much so that you will see that we have added a second daily tour to our timetable for the summer months.

The weather has been kind to us, never more so than on Pirates Weekend, when we had a galleon full of budding pirates on both Saturday and Sunday, engaging in a host of fun and frolics. There was a treasure hunt around the island, hair braiding and face painting along with a fantastic fancy dress competition, for which two worthy pirates won family tickets for a guided tour of the island.

May also saw the first Ghost tour of the year. Unfortunately, Kevin Hynes had to pull out due to illness but John Tanner who has worked with groups all over the UK including the ‘Hello Mary’ Productions, stepped in and provided a wonderful paranormal investigation. There were lots of gadgets and gismos, with a fair amount of activity picked up. The investigation was a complete sell-out and was very well received, so much so that we are now planning the next one.

We are looking forward to summer now, when we hope to host a SailGP weekend, with Drake’s Island offering the best views in Plymouth Sound and once we have everything in place we are looking forward to opening up our hop-on/hop-off tickets, enabling visitors to come to the island and just wander around as they wish.
