Join us on Drake’s Island for a day of high drama, fun and sporting excellence with the return of SailGP, the most competitive racing on water, when it returns to Plymouth on 30-31st July 2022 for the Great Britain Sail Grand Prix. Dubbed the F1 of sailing, the race hosts 10 F50 fast foiling catamarans which will jibe and tack in the local waters of Plymouth Sound and beside Drake’s Island.
This year, we are offering YOU the unique opportunity to join us on the island for an exclusive full day event that not only puts you front and centre to watch all the action as it happens, from the best vantage point in Plymouth but includes food and drink from our race day marquee. Your day includes an exclusive guided tour that includes new parts of the island that have only just been uncovered and never seen by the public, access to Drake’s Island beach throughout the day and a welcome drink on arrival.
Your Exclusive Event for SailGP Plymouth
After a short ferry ride from the Barbican Landing Stage, you will be greeted on arrival with a chilled glass of prosecco before making your way up onto the island. Before the racing starts, you will get the opportunity to explore Drake’s Island with a guided tour accompanied by one of our highly knowledgable tour guides, learning all about the fascinating history and wildlife and exploring the amazing network tunnels underneath the island including parts of the island that have recently been uncovered and never seen by the public.
Our guest marquee on top of the island will be available for guests to enjoy drinks and one of our delicious food platters, included in your ticket.
If you want a break from all the hustle and bustle for a while, why not have a relax and a paddle with access to the island’s lovely beach.
In a world first, you will also have the opportunity to savour our Drake’s Island Gin, a nod to the Naval history associated with the island and made with a special botanical blend of juniper, coriander seed, orange peel, cinnamon bark, lemon peel, Angelica root and orris bark. If like us, you fall in love with it, the first 100 bottles ever produced, will be available to buy on the island.
Ticket Pricing
This is a full day, exclusive event on Drake's Island, therefore tickets are limited. After booking please let us know if you want a vegetarian platter or have any other requirements.The boat leaves the Barbican Landing Stage at 11am and returns at 5pm.
